Incoming/Outgoing Server Setup

  1. Open Eudora and select the 'Personalities' icon in the bottom left-hand corner of your mail folder list. Right click inside the 'Personalities' tab and select 'New...', the 'New Account Wizard' window should appear.

  2. Choose 'Skip directly to advanced account setup' and click 'Finish'

  3. In the 'Generic Properties' tab, set these options:

Note: Guest users do not have access to the 'mail.messagingengine.com' SMTP server. Member, Full and Enhanced users do have access to the 'mail.messagingengine.com' SMTP server, so the following does not apply. Guest users should instead set the 'SMTP Server:' field to your ISP's SMTP server. You should be able to find this information in your ISP's documentation; we don't have the information, so please don't email us asking what it is. Also, depending on the strictness of your ISP, you may also need to set the 'Return Address' field above to your ISP's email address. The only way to be sure of if this is required or not is to try and send an email, and if you get an error, try again after changing to your ISP's email address. Finally, you should make sure that the 'Authentication allowed' checkbox displayed above is NOT checked.

  4. In the 'Incoming Mail' tab, you probably want to have your settings exactly as shown.
    Remember a few things:

Click 'OK'.

You should now see a 'Yourdomain Account' folder in your folder list. by right clicking on this folder, you can choose 'Refresh Mailbox List', and right-clicking on any of the folders that appear allows you to Synchronize the e-mail on your computer with the e-mail on the FastMail.FM server.

When composing a letter, you can send e-mail from your FastMail.FM account even if it isn't your dominant account. Just select FastMail.FM in the drop-down list that appears when you click on the 'From' icon in the composition window.

Learning more about IMAP

IMAP is a powerful protocol that allows you keep to your email synchronised, whether you're at home, at work, at a friends place or an internet cafe. You don't have to worry about what computer the email is on, because all the email is kept on the server and each client sees the same 'view' of the email. See this FAQ page to learn more about IMAP

Troubleshooting Issues

  1. You get a "Server SSL Certificate Rejected" warning when connecting via SSL
  2. Eudora 5/6/7 does not have the root certificate of our SSL provider built in. For Eudora 5/6, you can follow the directions here to add trust for our certificate. For Eudora 7, when the error window pops up, there should just be a "Yes" button at the bottom of the dialog you can click to accept trust for the certificate.
